Online Poker Guides: A Guide to Reading Online Poker Tells

Although some people think that reading poker tells while playing online poker is impossible because you are unable to physically see your opponents, there are actually several ways on how you can read tells online, allowing you to size up your opponents and use their weakness or strength to your advantage. Here are some pointers.

When you join an online game of poker, you would need to make several quick judgments since most players online jump in and out of the games rather quickly. You should be able to judge quickly the type of opponent you have in one round of the table or about nine to ten hands.

For instance, if the player plays a lot of hands, then he or she is probably a very loose player. If the player folds a lot of hands, then he or she is probably a very tight player. If the player plays a lot of hands but loses most of them, then he or she is probably a loose timid player. If the player plays few hands but bets large amounts when he or she does play, then he or she is probably a tight aggressive player. If the player shows terrible hands most of the time then it is likely that he or she has a loose poker strategy.

As a general rule, you can use this: when a player appears to be weak, then he or she is most likely strong; and if a player appears to be strong, then he or she is most likely weak.
